A Poem from the Heart
 
One night after having just been completely disobedient to the Lord, He led me to write this poem.  Now, I find myself reading it over and over as a reminder of His Grace.  I hope it serves you as it continues to bless me on a daily basis.

God,
Why would You let my heart get broke and leave me in such pain?
I thought I was Your special child, I thought You knew my name.
I don't deserve the life I'm in; so bitter and discontent
But this I cried in Your house, each service that I went
I can't imagine what I've done for You to just allow;
Those who are not Your own to hold and pull me down.
I did all I could think to do-each time You let me fail;
But just like me, I'd try again thinking this time I'd prevail
And then one night, I closed my eyes and said a different prayer
And heard a voice from within "Sweet daughter, I am here."
And then the voice went on to say the words that changed my life
And took me from the hurt and pains that bound my life in strife.
 
"Daughter if you need me so, then why won't you let go? You ask if you should move ahead and go when I say No! You pray and pray each time to say you Love Me and it's true- but loving Me won't change your life, there's work for Me to do.  You go to church and pay your dues and this is well and good- but I'm trying to move mountains here and in My way you've stood.  I say still and you move, quiet and you speak. I say humble, patient, loving- you say you're not weak! Well my dear it's up to you to tell me whom you trust cause if you want Me in your life Obedience a must.  First, I tell you to forgive and give up every grudge.  Then, remember you love Me because I Loved You First.  Next, you must remove yourself from judgment and let go- and trust that since I see it all, there's nothing I don't know!  Finally, remove your hands cause only Mine can save.  The Peace you think is yours to give My Son already gave.  And if you can do all this and live each day in love; I promise not just Peace on Earth but My Kingdom up above."
 
I closed my eyes and realized there is no other choice
But to thank my Father for His special Voice.
And for each pebble I have made a mountain and each tear I made a stream
Forgive me my self-righteous- my self- righteous indignity!
Today my life is different; my heart has been renewed
So believe me when I tell you, that there's nothing God can't do!
 
 
Dear America

I wrote this letter on the day President Obama was being sworn into office.  I can remember sitting with my parents and my children huddled in the living room and thanking God for allowing three generations to witness this moment in history. This letter is my heartfelt love and 'Thank You' to President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and their family for walking in obedience to God's call.
 
God Bless America

Dear America,
 
I know we have had our differences. To you, I have been an obstinate child. I have challenged your authority, at times I have been disrespectful, and I have accused you of loving my siblings more than you love me.  And you, being the only “motherland” I have known, have made me feel like your invisible, middle, stepchild- an annoyance; a nuisance whose cries for liberty went unheard since the day silenced with the dreams of  a king.
 
Today, at long last we stand on the verge of reconcile.  I can finally let go of both the truths and imaginations of my precept; become untaught in the ways of pain and instructed in the path of hope.  Today, I can forgive.  I can forgive the injustice of abduction; heal from the latent scars of oppression, and accept my adoption into this family’s promises of opportunity and freedom.  I didn’t know then that the freedom I sort was from both oppressive ideology and self, but your acceptance of me has lifted generational burdens and lent purpose to a millennium of tears.
 
I too am an American! My skin is brown, my spirit is luminescent, and my patriot a vibrant red, white, and blue.  Red, white, and blue; those colors have been instilled but not until now ingrained in my fibers.  I am American not because of my ability to vote, to register in war, or to pay taxes but because the dreams of our forefathers echoed by our godfathers, and solidified by our heavenly Father.  Today is the re birth of a nation; a nation born again as one, under God and indivisible.  Never again to be separated by our variances but bonded by our diversity.  No longer an international outcast or proponent of a New World Order but One World in Order!  
 
Equality is no longer a whimsical fantasy.  We are finally holding on to the truths “that are self evident, that all men are created equally, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”  Opportunity and I are finally running the same race and for the first time in forty years, I feel the potentiality of The Declaration of Independence’s power as itself calls for the security of these rights and states “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying it’s foundation on such principles…”
 
I didn’t need permission to love you, I needed a reason.  Thank you for finally becoming all that you proved to be to others but needed this moment in time to become to me.  I will not complain about yesterday or even dwell on the problems of today, but I will look to a brighter tomorrow with you, America, my motherland, and now in maturity my friend.  I look forward to praying over you, prospering with you, fighting for you, and dying in you- for today, you have finally become My America

Lord,
We pray for optimum health, mental clarity and political prosperity for President Barack Obama.  We pray that what he lacks in political 'experience' you make up for with supernatural wisdom and power.  We also pray that when his enemies come upon him they will stumble and fall; and that your love will fill his heart to the end that 'Your will' will be done through him.  We pray mightily for his protection.  As we plead the Blood over him and his family, we ask you to dispatch legions of angels to protect them from all hurt, harm, danger, and from all accidents and incidents as he is the President of these United States of America .
