Many of you know that I'm a bit of a hair hag...One minute I'm growing my hair out, refusing to cut it until it hits a certain length and then the next minute I'm on Facebook showing off my 40 something haircut! What can I say? I bore easily and I love playing with my hair!
Since moving to the Poconos, I haven't been able to enjoy some of my favorte hairstyle which includes box braids and cornrows...UNTIL NOW! I am so happy to put the spotlight on my new friend and braiding DIVA, Cina.
Not only is Cina a Christian wife and mother of two beautiful girls, but she has gifted hands and can BRAID some hair. Now I knew my enthusiasm over my last hair cut would be short lived and I practically started looking for a braider so I could grow my hair out weeks after my cut.
I first met Cina at work a while ago when she approached me as I was wearing someone elses braids and she said, "Ms. your hair is cute but I can do it better." I took her number and almost a year later, she has proven herself right! I love my new look and I especially enjoyed the wonderful fellowship I got to share with Cina while getting my hair done. Not only does she braid tight but without causing pain from pinching, she braids fast and has the best prices in or out of town. She's like a little piece of Harlem right here in PA and I love it!
So if you are in the NEPA area and you like braids or cornrow styles, look Cina up.

Pregnancy Resource Center
of the Poconos
Pregnancy Resource Center of the Poconos is a not-for-profit community service agency doing God’s work here in PA with networks across the globe. For many people, pregnancy is a joyous time after marriage when a child symbolizes the promise of future generations. But for others, pregnancy can signify a different time; a time of fear, confusion and even despair. It is during those times when the body of Christ at Pregnancy Resource Center comes forth with guidance, care, concern and the Word of God to help those in need. The center is staffed with Directors as well as trained volunteers and all services are free, confidential and available to both men and women.
There are many services and resources available at PRC for anyone experiencing an unplanned or unexpected pregnancy. These services include [but are not limited to] pregnancy test, peer counseling as needed (with or without parents, boyfriends, and spouses), referrals to community resources, maternity clothes and baby items, adoption information and referral (if desired), child birth classes and parenting skills. Whether married, in a committed relationship, single, or a victim of abuse it’s important to have options when faced with an unplanned pregnancy.
Programs such as LifeSteps offers incentives with a “Earn as you learn” approach to counseling. This service initiative allows you to earn “Boutique Bucks” by keeping scheduled appointments with your counselor. You are always proactive in your walk and assist in creating a program designed especially for your needs. Through regular participation in the lessons you not only learn valuable information about yourself, your baby, and your life- you also earn bucks you can accumulate to purchase various baby items like swings, diapers, car seats, baby clothes and formula. You can use your earned bucks immediately or let them add up to afford larger items. This is a place where you can literally feed your spirit while preparing to feed your baby at the same time. What a joy to behold!
One of the most impressive programs at Pregnancy Resource Center is Forgiven and Set Free. This program offers the support, counseling and spiritual guidance so desperately needed for women experiencing symptoms of post abortion syndrome or PAS. For those women who have experienced an abortion, it is important to know that you are not alone. What a blessing to have a place where you can talk, express your emotions, and heal knowing that with repentance and through the mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ you are indeed Forgiven and Set Free!
Symptoms of PAS can include grief, anger, feelings of guilt and betrayal, discomfort around children, self destructive relationships and behaviors, anxiety and depression. Even if you never experience any of these symptoms, it is still important to learn the ramifications of engaging in sexual relationships outside of marriage. At Pregnancy Resource Center individuals are given God's truth which empowers both men and women to live victoriously and be set free! Pregnancy Resource Center does not perform or refer to abortion services.
So don’t delay. If you think you are pregnant or are confirmed pregnant and need some support, Pregnancy Resource Center is literally a Godsend for you and your unborn baby.
